I find that the average person who knows nothing of the Martial Arts outside of a Jackie Chan movie tends to want to poke fun and look down on a person studying the Martial Arts. I remember when i was still in High School all the Jock's would always call me Bruce Lee, in all reality i could probably have kicked there butts with little effort but chose restraint to rise above there crap. BUt in all reality i guess we live in an ignorant world where people are afraid of things they dont understand.

well, a lot of people go off movies, too, which is all they've ever experienced.

Or you could have simply stood up to them and see if the butt kicking happened. My experience is that most people would rather think about beer than violence, and hey who can blame them...

alot of people want to fight cuz they know I do martial arts. And I always do the right thing and dismiss them but sometimes ask if they want to spar (a word i explain as playfight) or try and hit me and that usually opens their eyes. they usually don't want to spar but always go for the (obvious) free shot. Sometimes it opens my eyes too.

cool, someone just left me a message asking "is that mucully culkin?"

I don't fight much cuz it kinda disrespects the instructor. But when I don't fight I still have a problem explaining why... like sorry I was wrong or whatever cuz I guess just pride or somethin, but I should cuz pride is hurt from the back down anyways. I guess its a little harder when your younger... But I haven't ever ran into a ninja:)

There's a guy in slidell, la, who always tells people that all I had to do for my shodan was write a paper, and that he beat me up in a parking lot before. Neither is true, but they are certainly fun to tell people.

This guy is what you would call an urban ninja. I've run into a lot of these, and they always give themselves away by subscribing to no particular martial discipline, and criticizing everyone and everything else that they do not do. They have grand claims of awesome things they can do, but never seem to be able to show people. It all comes down to pride. I honestly respect no martial artist who would use what they know unless they had to, and certainly wouldn't be bragging about it up to that point.
